Fix a Leak CTX-239
CTX-239 Fix a Leak is a concentrated mixture designed to seal leaks in almost any material. It can be used for leaks in spa's, pools, as well as plumbing jobs. It will seal leaks up to 1/8" (about 3.1 mm) in diameter.

-
Circulate the filter system before adding FIX-A-LEAK to the water.
- Sand Filters: set filter valve to recirculate (whirpool or bypass) position.
- Other types: remove the cartridge DE elements from the filter tank.
Then proceed to circulate through the empty tank.
-
With the pump running, add FIX-A-LEAK slowly through the skimmer or any other suction.
-
After adding FIX-A-LEAK adjust suction to the bottom drain only.
If this is not possible, the vacuum (sweeper) could alternatively be used by simply placing the vacuum in the deepest part of the pool and connecting it normally to its suction connection.
Set the filter valve to the normal suction position. -
FIX-A-LEAK is very heavy and will sink to the lowest part of the pool in a short time.
It must be stirred back into the suspension (in the pool), manually using the vacuum handle, or mechanically with an automatic vacuum every 4-6 hours during water circulation. -
Continue recirculating the water until the leak is sealed.
-
Mark the pool water level and check for 2-3 days and determine if the leak has stopped.
-
After the leak is gone and the leak has had time to seal properly (24-48 hrs) you may return to normal filtration.
- Sand Filters: Set the filter valve to the filtering position and return to normal operation. Backwash the filter as necessary.
- Other Types: Reinstall the cartridge in the tank and return to normal operation.
Rinse filter as necessary.
NOTE: Never let cartridges or DE elements dry out before they are rinsed. -
The treatment can be repeated if necessary.
Application Notes
Leaks in suction lines Leaks in suction lines are usually detectable by air mixed with water in the returns. In most cases in the suction lines only water leaks when the filter pump is turned off.
Normal circulation will guide FIX-A-LEAK away from the leak, and if the pump is turned off FIX-A-LEAK will not be able to reach the leak and seal it. You must reverse the flow of water, to force the material through the leak under pressure. Preferably 5-10 PSI, until the leak is gone.
When this has been achieved, gradually increase the pressure to 15-25 PSI to ensure proper sealing.
Very important: After you seal a suction line leak, you must leave the suction of the repaired line free for no less than 48 hours. FIX-A-LEAK needs time to cure and harden.
Miscellaneous leaks: If you suspect a leak around recessed fittings inside the pool (such as return nozzles, reflectors, skimmers, ladders...) turn off the pump. Apply FIX-A-LEAK directly to the leak using a squeeze, similar to a ketchup bottle (squeezes out by hand).
Allow a minimum of 48 hours to seal before restarting circulation.
Doses are approximate and can be modified depending on the specific characteristics of each pool, climate, etc.
The recommendations for use are given for information only and may vary due to changes in the formulation or modifications made by the manufacturer. It is necessary to follow the instructions contained in the label accompanying the product.
